Boeing 757
Boeing developed the 757 as a successor of the successful 727. The programme was launched in March 1979 and the 757 was developed together with the larger 767 widebody. Both types have many systems in common, including a digital flightdeck. The 757 has the same fuselage cross section as the 727 but is longer and has two engines instead of three. The first flight was on February 19 1982 and delivery started in January 1983. The main version is the 757-200. A stretched version is the 757-300. Boeing delivered 1048 aircraft and production ended in 2005.
